anything done without love is dangerous

I have written about being ‘directed’ or ‘impressed’ by my spiritual guidance, most times it was like being given jigsaw puzzle pieces, without a glimpse of the picture they are going to make. Such was the case with NS (long before cDt) jigsaw pieces and they motivated me to research and discover the full picture about their historical role, resulting in the MS ‘Ancient Secrets and the Secret Teachings of Jesus’; which I have now been ‘directed’ to share in a number of posts.

                                                      INTRODUCTION

Revealing ancient secrets may be viewed as having little relevance to or impact on contemporary society, but I believe the opposite is the case, exposing those secrets and what forced them underground into hidden expression, also uncovers the lies and  perverted truth which ruled in their place and has fundamentally shaped our present world. We need to cleanse our view of the past and its people who I might add, had a better understanding of this benighted planet than we presently do, despite our so-called advanced society.

The ancient secrets alluded to in the title revolves around three things.

Firstly, the prime importance of several northern star constellations. All the early civilizations studied the stars, the academics Giorgio de Santillana and Hertha von Drechend in ‘Hamlet’s Mill’, have put forward compelling evidence, that woven into the fabric of worldwide mythology, can be found advanced astrological knowledge; including an understanding of precession of the equinoxes, the changing over time of the position of the pole star.

But there is other important knowledge, relating to the stars, the ancients encoded within their mythology. It is found in their attaching to star constellations, mythic and legendary figures from earth history, such as Callisto, Hercules, earth’s animals such as the bear and swan; and objects such as a wagon, the ship of the Argonauts, or the crown of Ariadne.

This translation of earthly things into celestial ones was no frivolous activity, it expressed the ancient view of cosmic realities, ever potently present behind earth life; a starry language, now many do not bother to read or could read if they tried. In the majority, present day humanity has its eyes firmly fixed on the earth, and only look up at the stars, when contemplating how to own a part of it, or exploit its resources.

Secondly, connected to the northern star mysteries was a certain type of kingship, a cosmic kingship, wherein the king embodied this link, and became thereby the channel for cosmic order, eternal life and the fertility of the earth.

The origins of this cosmic kingship can be found in the mythology of Atlas, the king of the semi-divine race who created the legendary advanced civilization of Atlantis, a continent destroyed in a worldwide flood; leaving only scattered remnants to survive in the postdiluvian age.  The main characteristics of this semi-divine race – the Titans – is the cosmic nature of their kingship, a doctrine of the immortality of the soul, the importance of the dead and their role amongst the living; advanced skills in masonry, science and the civilizing arts. The belief that there was an advanced civilization at the beginning of our history, is gaining ground with many academics, for example Dr Robert Schoch. But it is still anathema within main stream thinking, and professional suicide within the peer review structure of the academic world.

I follow the influence of this semi-divine race and their cosmic kingship, from Crete, Arcadia in Greece, to Troy, Britain, Ireland, Egypt, Mesopotamia and Israel. The journey ends with an examination of the evidence, that Jesus was the last such cosmic king to suffer as a World Pillar – so much of what he said, that baffled those who listened to his preaching, including some of his disciples, can only be understood in the light of these ancient mysteries and his role in them.

Thirdly, the prime importance of navel sites NS. The ancient view of earth was of one, not only intimately linked with the heavens, but also with the underworld of the dead, and connecting these three realms together were the sacred navel sites of the earth – such as Glastonbury, Delphi and Jerusalem – where a mystical umbilical cord was imagined rising to the heavens. These sites were marked with sacred stones, pillars, trees (often portrayed as founts of immortality), or situated on a hill or mountain. They acted as a central axle rod around which the earth, the underworld and the heavens revolved in harmony. They were referred to as a World Mountain, World Pillar or World Tree, although often the pillar and tree were united in one world link.

William Blake said, a fool doesn’t see the same tree as a wise man, one could also say, two wise men wouldn’t see the same tree either. In fact, looking at the histories of various movements and groups, internal dissension as to the right way of viewing, opinion or belief about what they were engaged in, is the normal human way of things (as is that another predominant human trait greed). It was so with those who followed Jesus and his teachings. Considering the religious movement called Christianity spanned different continents, languages, races and cultures; it is not surprising it spawned different versions. One version, further shaped by the personal beliefs and political concerns of a Roman emperor, enabled by his power, came to dominate and then oppress the others, this was the Roman Church; the version that in the end won, so to speak.

The final section deals with the version that lost, the true (but when has truth been a guarantee of success) embodiment of what Jesus preached and wanted to achieve; the version centered around his cosmic role, the ancient legacy attached to it, and his secret teachings, that were divulged to his followers through levels of initiation; and incorporated his vision for a new spiritually aware, perfected humanity.

The oppression of the Roman Church – that for a centuries long span of time exerted an inexorable influence upon Christian thinking – forced the followers of his true message and secret teachings, to tread a clandestine path. Creating an underground Christian stream, that when it emerged into open expression, was cloaked in forms that only the initiate understood: it is found in Freemasonry and its mystical Temple of Solomon, in the esoteric importance of Arcadia, in alchemy, in the perfect King Arthur and the Holy Grail. These secrets are openly revealed in the Et in Arcadia Ego and Les Bergers d’Arcadie paintings of Nicolas Poussin 1594-1665.

Finally, I consider the ancient thinking behind navel sites and the network of ley lines they are attached to, which upon examination appears to be based on a very real understanding of the electromagnetic nature of the earth; and the role underground water plays in the health of the planet. In view of the importance of astronomy and astrology in the subject matter of this book, I consider if there is any evidence that the positioning of star constellations and planets, does in fact shape human life.

THE FIRST RELIGION

Plato’s Atlantis

The first step in this unravelling of secrets, will be in describing the antediluvian civilization of Atlantis found in two dialogues – Timeaus and Critias – written by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato c429-c.347.

A cousin of Plato, Critias, told him his family had an oral tradition and possessed documents bout the tale of Atlantis. The information originated with the renowned Athenian statesman Solon d.558 BC who was considered one of the wisest men of his age (helping to lay the foundation for Greek democracy), he told what he knew to the great-grandfather of Critias, who in turn passed it on to his grandfather, who recounted the tale to the family.

Solon obtained the account of Atlantis from an Egyptian priest of Sias, in the Delta region. He was given this knowledge because he had been trying to compute, how far into antiquity, Greek history stretched. It was then an Egyptian priest intervened and told him that the present Greeks were but children, because they possessed no true ancient knowledge of their race, or ancient science. This is so, the priest continued, because there have been many destructions of humanity, mainly by fire and flood, and the history of their ancient ancestors and their records, knowledge and science; had been destroyed in one such destruction, a great flood.

The priest went on to explain, that this flood destroyed a very large island – possessing an advanced imperial civilization – that once existed beyond the pillars of Hercules (Gibraltar) in the true ocean; by this he did not mean the Mediterranean, which he referred to as a harbour. This civilization held sway over diverse islands in the open ocean, over Europe as far as Tyrrhenian Sea – part of the Mediterranean Sea, between mainland Italy and the islands of Sicily and Sardinia – Egypt, and parts of Libya.

The first editor of ‘Timaeus’ Crantor 300 BC, sent enquiries to Egypt about the story, and the priests there maintained it was a true account. They said the pillars on which this information was recorded, still existed. Robert Graves in his ‘Greek Myths’, also accepts an Egyptian provenance for the tale of Atlantis; with evidence of the myth in the folk lore of the peoples occupying the Atlantic seaboard from Gibralter to the Hebrides dating from 3000 BC and in west Africa. The Neoplatonist philosopher Proclus 412 – 485 AD also told of the existence of stones and pillars in Egypt, on which the history of the island was written.

There may also be a reference to Atlantis as Ogygia, called omphalos thalassic ‘navel of the sea’, in the Odyssey by Homer 8th century BC. Ogygia, lies far over the sea – in fact the god Hermes is fearful of travelling over its wide expanse – there Calypso, a daughter of Atlas king of Atlantis lives, who has the power to grant immortality; which mirrors the myth of other daughters of Atlas tending a tree of immortality. The etymology of Ogygia is uncertain, the name is related to Okeanes the Titan who personified the world ocean. The Greek word Ogygios eventually came to bear the meaning of ‘primeval’ or ‘from earliest ages’ – as is Atlantis in the annuals of the world.

The Egyptian priest said the island of Atlantis possessed a central fertile plain dominated by a mountain. This mountain was ringed around with zones varying in size, two rings of land and a central circular space and three of water, interconnected with bridges. In the central portion was the royal citadel, the palace, a temple complex and a sacred wooded grove. The next ring of land possessed underground docks. The final, greater ring of land housed a race track, gymnasia and gardens. This was enclosed by the great harbour of the final ring of water, from which a canal led to the nearby sea, passing through the merchants and traders quarters.

The Atlanteans were highly evolved, wise, gentle and advanced in all the arts of a civilized society. Their knowledge of masonry was exceptional, the buildings they constructed, because of their size and beauty, were wonders to behold.

The first Atlanteans, descended from five sets of twins, were the progeny of the god Poseidon and a mortal woman Cleito. Poseidon was predominately regarded as god of the sea, but he was also worshipped as a horse god, and as Poseidon Wa-na-ka or Wanex he was also king of the Underworld and the dead. This incarnation is perhaps explained by the Underworld having a strong association with water, the Greek underworld is rich in rivers, and located near primeval waters; that were thought to lay within the bowels of the earth.

Ten kings ruled over Atlantis. Atlas, whose twin was called Eumelus or Gadeirus, was the first king – a doubtless eponymous name representing a royal lineage – of the central portion of the island. The name of the entire island Atlantis, is derived from his name, as is the name for the surrounding ocean, the Atlantic.

This central portion, ruled over by Atlas, enclosing the mountain, was the island’s religious and ceremonial heart. Here stood the temple of Poseidon, surrounded by an enclosure of gold and was not accessible to all Atlanteans. Around the outside of the temple, were golden statues of ancestors of the ruling kings and their consorts. Inside the temple was a massive statue – whose head touched the lofty roof – of the god Poseidon driving a chariot with six winged horses that were capable of walking on water, surrounded by a hundred dolphin riding Nereids or sea nymphs.

At the heart of the temple was a sacred pillar, upon which was written the divine laws of Poseidon, regulating the governance of the island. Every fifth and sixth year the kings gathered in the temple, where bulls roamed freely, and using only stave and noose, captured one. The bull was led up to the pillar and its throat was cut, his blood anointing the sacred writing. His limbs were then burnt as an offering, and the beast’s blood mingled with wine was poured into cups, from which the kings drank, swearing to abide by the laws inscribed on the pillar.

But, in time, the high civilization of Atlantis, known for its wisdom and dedication to the civilizing arts, began to degenerate into a race loving luxury, wealth, sensual pleasures and power; and became a conquering imperial nation. In Critias this degeneracy was attributed to their divine portion having ‘began to fade away, and became diluted too often and too much with the mortal admixture, and the human nature got the upper hand.’1 This degeneration was said to have angered the gods, and is cited for the reason of the destruction of their island, in the worldwide flood; when Atlantis disappeared beneath the sea.

In the records of many mythologies worldwide, there are tales of a great flood. Among the Sumerians, the Epic of Gilgamesh contains a detailed account of a deluge, with Ziusudra playing a role mirrored in the biblical account of Noah. In India, Manu is the Hindu Noah, the ancient Persian Zend-Avesta speaks of a flood. There are also accounts to be found in the traditions as far apart as Samoa and Angola. In South America, it is present in the mythologies of the Costa Rican Indians, the Caryan tribe of Amazon Indians, the Guarari Tupians or Tupinambas of Brazil. The same tradition is found amongst the Mayans of Mexico and central South America, and in the Mayan Dresden Codex, dating from between the 12th to 14th century AD, there is a pictorial depiction of the destruction of the world by flood.

Analysis of various core samples taken from the Greenland ice cap revealed the end of the last Ice Age began around 12000 BC. From 9000 BC sea levels began to rise, in 8700 BC the cold period abruptly came to an end.  Around 8000 BC there was a catastrophic collapse of the ice cap, stabilizing in 7000 BC, by which time sea levels had risen by four hundred feet. This vast climatic change explains the evidence c9600 BC of the mass extinction of many animal species, great human migrations and the vastly increased practice of agriculture in regions high above sea level. One could speculate that a displaced people, having suffered the iniquity of one flood, wanted to preserve themselves from the horrors of another.

Conventional history does not doubt the reality of the Ice Age ending, but it does doubt, prior to this, the existence of an advanced civilization.

What could be the cause of a flood that would submerge a great land mass? One theory put forward is that there was a dramatic and massive displacement of the Earth’s crust. The Earth’s inner core is of solid metal, surrounded by a layer of liquid metal, which is encased in a mantle of solid rock. Upon this mantle sits the asthenosphere, a highly viscous, mechanically weak region, 100 to 200 kilometers below the surface of the Earth. Upon the asthenosphere rests the crust, the thinnest layer, divided into a series of plates. These plates can shift, causing earthquakes and the eruption of volcanoes. If there was a massive movement of the crust over the asthenosphere, it would produce the type of natural disaster capable of destroying Atlantis.

But what would cause such a displacement of the crust? Charles. H. Hapgood 1904-1962, a lecturer in world and American history, anthropology, economics and the history of science, has considered the matter. He thinks that an excessive, unevenly distributed ice cap, accumulating at the poles, in combination with the Earth, in its orbit deviating from more than one per cent; would result in a massive gravitational pull from the sun, moon and planets. This would exert such a pressure on the top-heavy, vulnerable Earth (which is normally stabilized by it not being an exact sphere, but bulging in the middle), that the fragile crust would catastrophically slide over the highly viscous asthenosphere. The massive crust displacement would move a new region into the polar zone and affect others, turning a temperate zone into a tropical one; or a tropical one into a temperate zone.

Returning to Atlantis, I want next to consider the mythology of its king Atlas.
